Course Duration: 4 Weeks
- Bookkeeping Principles (2 Weeks)
- QuickBooks (2 Weeks)
Prerequisite: Employment Foundations Certificate and Introduction to Office Management Certificate or equivalent work experience and at least a level 2 computer course.
This certificate will prepare students to do complete cycle bookkeeping (up to year-end) for businesses, or work in accounts payable or accounts receivable. There will be a brief introduction to payroll administration.
The Bookkeeping Principles Course will introduce students to accounting terminology, reports, and processes. Students will learn double-entry accounting and will practice allocating expenses and revenues to the correct accounts. Students will be introduced to inventory and payroll tracking as well as how to use the CRA website to find current rules, regulations, and forms. Students will be able to prepare monthly reports in preparation for the accountant.
The QuickBooks course will allow the students to apply bookkeeping principles to a computerized environment. Students will learn to record accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory transactions and payroll transactions and make corrections and adjustments when necessary. Students will also learn to customize and create reports.
